Step 1: Submit Your Story (10/31/11 Deadline)

Did your dog pee on your vintage Stratocaster? Did your kid fingerpaint on your prized Les Paul? Did you fall off stage and break the whammy bar of your favorite Gibson? Despite the lengths we go through to protect our guitars, we all have horror stories about damaging one when we least expect it. SUBMIT YOUR STORY BELOW. Submissions will begin to appear on 10/15/11.

Step 2: Get Votes (10/15/11 – 11/15/11)

Voting will be open to the general public, and though we will be announcing the contest to visitors and in internet Guitar forums, you will have the ability to ask your friends to vote for your submission. We’ll even give you handy links to easily share your submission with your Facebook friends, Twitter followers and e-mail buddies.

Step 3: Collect Your Prize!

The #1 vote getter at the close of the voting window will win a free Studio™ Deluxe Guitar Case Rack! All other contestants will receive a $20 coupon at the conclusion of the contest.

Contest Rules

 

1. Word Count: Between 100 and 300 words
2. Eligibility: You must a resident of the continental US only (the prize will be shipped to your residence) and cannot be a GuitarStorage.com employee or family member of an employee.
3. Only 1 vote per individual. We will employ behind-the-scenes methods to track who votes. If we suspect that an individual has voted multiple times for their own submission, we may pull the submission from the contest.
4. All material should be in good taste and suitable for all readers. We retain the right to reject any submission for what we deem to be “inappropriate language”.
5. The winner’s rack will be shipped for free anywhere within the 48 contiguous United States. We will post the winner’s first name and last initial, as well as his/her home town and state.

Sample Submission

 

My girlfriend’s cat mangled my vintage Telecaster!
In May 2003, my girlfriend, along with her devil cat, moved in with me. I have a decent sized guitar collection, 11 and counting. I play rhythm guitar in a band and we use my house for practice sessions so there’s always even more guitars strewn everywhere. This was never a problem for me as I was living the bachelor life but all that changed when my girlfriend and devil cat moved in.

Not even three weeks after the new living arrangement did I wake up to find my prized possession, and my soul, scarred for life. Her stupid feline friend had apparently spent the night clawing at the sides of my vintage 1975 Fender Telecaster Thinline guitar! These weren’t just surface scratches. The cat actually clawed off a good 2” section of the finish right around the jack input!!!

Needless to say, that’s the last day I left one of my guitars out of their case. And also the last day that cat remained un-neutered.
